Srinagar, Feb 24 (KNO): Director Tourism, GN Itoo Wednesday said the visiting dignitaries would grace Khelo India National Winter Games by participating in the week-long mega event scheduled to begin at the famous ski-resort Gulmarg tomorrow (Thursday). Talking to reporters here, Director Tourism, GN Itoo according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that around one thousands athletes from Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country would participate in the event, formal inauguration of which is scheduled on February 26, Friday. “I hope the VIPs who are visiting Gulmarg would grace the occasion by their participation. Around 1000 athletes from Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country would participate in the Khelo India Winter Games scheduled to begin at Gulmarg tomorrow,” Itoo added. When asked that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is also visiting Gulmarg, he said, nothing can be anticipated in advance as confirmation in this direction is yet awaited. “Since it’s purely an administrative decision, I cannot say anything in advance as the confirmation in this direction is yet awaited,” he said adding the event will be smoothly conducted with strict adherence to COVID-19 protocol. Director Tourism said despite harsh weather advisory, all arrangements have been finalized in collaboration with the Department of Tourism and Sports Council at ski-resort Gulmarg. “As you all know that Khelo India is a big event related to tourism, people from across the globe come to watch this event. I hope this will boost our tourism industry throughout the world,” he said—(KNO)
